Les Gastrosophes

Food Waste – Fine Cooking – Solidarity

One third of the world’s food production is thrown away. A group of young gastro-enthusiasts from Brussels wanted to change this. Les Gastrosophes collect left over food and transform it into “haute cuisine”. The meals are served to the less favoured of the society like homeless, refugees and others. During the first three months of the Corona pandemic Les Gastrosophes were preparing every day 200-250 meals and distributed them with their cargo bikes. For three years I followed them with my camera and the book shows the results. It is a combination of portrait, food and documentary photography.

244 pages, 169 photos, fine art print on 150 g/m2 paper, 33,5 x 25 cm, 1,9 kg
